About SammyStories

SammyStories is a free educational platform that provides social stories for autistic children ages 4–12. It is operated by withSammy.org, a Canadian non-profit founded by parents of an autistic child. By using this platform, you agree to these terms.

Intended Use

SammyStories is designed as a supplementary educational resource. It is not a substitute for professional therapy, medical advice, or clinical intervention. Stories are created following Carol Gray's Social Stories™ criteria and reviewed by our clinical validation pipeline, but should be used under the guidance of parents, caregivers, or qualified professionals.

Free Access

SammyStories is free to use and will remain free. We believe every child deserves access to tools that help them be understood. We do not charge for access, do not display advertisements, and do not sell data. The platform is sustained through withSammy.org’s non-profit operations and community support.

AI-Generated Content

Custom stories created through the Story Wizard use AI to generate content. While we apply clinical validation rules, AI-generated content may occasionally contain inaccuracies. Parents and caregivers should review all custom stories before sharing them with children. No child’s personal information is ever sent to AI services.

Custom stories you create are yours to use, print, and share for personal and educational purposes. withSammy.org retains a non-exclusive license to use anonymised, aggregated patterns from custom stories to improve the platform. We never republish individual custom stories without explicit consent.

Community Contributions

Professionals who submit templates, vocabulary mappings, or sensory profiles grant withSammy.org a non-exclusive license to use, display, and distribute their contributions within the platform. Contributors retain ownership of their original work and are credited by name and credential.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the platform for any purpose harmful to children
• Submit content that violates our clinical guidelines or contains inappropriate material
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits or abuse API endpoints
• Misrepresent professional credentials when contributing content

Intellectual Property

The SammyStories name, Sammy character designs, and original story content are the property of withSammy.org. You are free to use, print, and share stories from the platform for personal and educational purposes. Commercial use requires written permission from withSammy.org.

Limitation of Liability

SammyStories is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. withSammy.org is not liable for any outcomes related to the use of stories or the platform. Always consult qualified professionals for behavioural and developmental guidance.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province in which withSammy.org is incorporated. Any disputes will be resolved under Canadian jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms as the platform evolves. Material changes will be noted on this page with an updated date.
