My Body Notices Everything
My body is very good at noticing the world around me. My ears pick up the soft hum of the refrigerator. My skin feels the smooth cotton of my favorite shirt. My senses help me understand what is happening nearby.

My body is very good at noticing the world around me. My ears pick up the soft hum of the refrigerator. My skin feels the smooth cotton of my favorite shirt. My senses help me understand what is happening nearby.
My body notices a lot. My ears hear small sounds. My skin feels soft things. My senses help me.
Some places have many sounds and bright lights at once. The school hallway fills with voices and movement during class change. My body takes in all of this at the same time. It is okay that sometimes this feels like too much.
The hallway is loud. Lots of lights and sounds. My body feels full. It is okay.
A grown-up explains that my body is giving me a signal. When sensory feelings get strong, that signal is there to help. Sensory means how my body feels, hears, sees, and touches things. My body is telling me it needs something to feel calmer.
My body sends signals. Sensory means what my body feels. Strong feelings are a signal. My body needs something.
I see a small toolkit with helpful items inside it. There is a squeeze ball, soft fabric, and headphones. I can try squeezing something soft when my body feels too full. When I squeeze the ball, my body starts to feel calmer.
I have a toolkit. It has a squeeze ball. I can try squeezing it. My body feels calmer.
The cafeteria is busy and loud at lunchtime. My body begins to feel the sensory heaviness of the room. I reach for my squeeze ball and hold it tightly. A grown-up sits nearby and gives me an encouraging nod.
The cafeteria is loud. My body feels heavy. I squeeze my ball. A grown-up is close.
I carry my sensory toolkit with me everywhere now. My body knows how to tell me when it needs help. When strong feelings come, I know what to reach for. My careful noticing is a strength, and my toolkit makes it easier.
I carry my toolkit everywhere. My body tells me when. I know what to do. Noticing is my strength.
Take a moment. You can take some slow, deep breaths when you feel ready.
